Thank you! To answer your question- as for drawing ponies, I haven't been at it very long. As for drawing in general, I started drawing as a hobby around 10 or 11 years ago. I took some art classes but they didn't really do any figure drawing, so that was mainly self-taught. I got a tablet I think 7 or so years ago and try to keep it up regularly, although sometimes I have hiatuses when I get busy with life. Back before I got my tablet and for a while afterward, I read a lot of tutorials on deviantART to get a sense of how people did digital art and different techniques. Reference pictures also help you compare what your picture looks like to what it should better resemble (useful for drawing new poses). Getting a feel for how people do art helps, but in the end you will likely come up with a style that works best for you. Adjusting the flaws in your initial style as you find them from practice will lead to improvement. So don't give up if you get frustrated. While I'm happy with the progress I have made over the years, I know there's much I still need to work on improving too, and I have times where I get frustrated as well. Some days are better than others.
Hope this helps!
